Why does God keep his children on earth after the new birth?
- Remaining on Earth is risky for the one who is already saved. He can turn away from God, he can deny the faith, and possibly lose his salvation.
Jesus in his prayer for his disciples asked the Father not to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the dangers in it. He then said that he sends them as the Father himself sent him.
» 15 pray not that thou shouldest take them from the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou didst send me into the world, even so sent I them into the world. ” (John 17:15-18)
Just as the Father sent his Son to save the world, he also sends us to contribute to this great commission . To accomplish this, we need God’s gifts.
