What is the importance of the new birth?
- Nicodemus ( John 3:1-10 ) approached Jesus because he was impressed by the miracles, the teachings of Jesus. It was an indirect way of asking Jesus his secret.
- Jesus responded by showing him that the way to be like Him is to be “born again.”
“ Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God .”
- In other words, to be like Jesus, you must be born again.
The Greek expression translated as born again also translates as “born from above.” This step gives us citizenship of heaven.
The new birth allows us to be like Jesus, to be citizens of the Kingdom of God.
